Makeup setting spray is a product that I'm obsessed with nowadays because I've experienced myself how this product can make a difference to makeup...a long-lasting difference, that is.
Over the last couple of months, I've acquired a couple of setting sprays and here are the ones that I've been using on rotation. I lined 'em up yesterday as I was tidying up my makeup kits and then an idea hit me.
IT'S TIME FOR ANOTHER BEAUTY BATTLE FEATURING MAKEUP SETTING SPRAYS!
Get to know our contenders for today:
Wet N Wild Photo Focus Natural Finish Setting Spray (Around P400.00+) promises to keep makeup from fading and cracking, plus has Aloe Vera to help hydrate the skin.
Pro Studio Makeup Setting Spray (P300.00) helps control oil and shine for matte, fresh makeup all day.
NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray (P520.00) promises all- day matte finish in a featherlight formula.
Nichido Matte Finish Makeup Setting Spray (P288.00) promises to keep makeup intact for hours.
BYS Matte Makeup Setting Spray (P599.00) provides a matte finish and promises to improve makeup longevity.
L'Oreal Infallible Makeup Extender (P500.00) promises long- lasting, fresh makeup.
Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist (P995.00) promises to hydrate, refresh, and keep makeup intact the entire day, plus has Rosewater and Green Tea to soothe the skin.
Let the battle begin!
1. PACKAGING
All products come in spray packaging, obviously, but in terms of look, Pixi has the prettiest and the pink juice in the bottle just draws me in; I'd also like to note that Pixi's atomizer delivers a nice, fine mist. Second would be Pro Studio because I love how handy it is, although volume is significantly compared to the rest. Next would be Wet N Wild because I love anything white, plus it's quite handy too.
WINNER: PIXI
2. FORMULA
In terms of fragrance, feel, benefits, and absorbability, Pixi offers more benefits due to its Rosewater and Green Tea extracts, which in turn made the scent of the product pleasing. BYS Matte Spray significantly makes your skin look matte, but not flat, which I like because it makes me feel that my makeup is intact. Wet N Wild offers Aloe in the formula, which helps makeup look fresh the entire day.
WINNER: PIXI
3. PRICE
Nichido takes down all with its price, not to mention accessibility as well.
WINNER: NICHIDO
4. STAYING POWER
L'Oreal and NYX both have good staying power; they keep my makeup looking fresh around 4-5 hours, tops. Pixi may be winning the in the first categories, but when it comes to staying power, it's okay at 3-4 hours, but at least it gives me a lovely, dewy look that is not oily- looking at all. Nichido wins this round as it keeps my face looking fresh and does its best to keep oil in control at 7-8 hours.
WINNER: NICHIDO
All these products have their own pros and cons, and I also acknowledge that skin chemistry and personal preference play a huge role as well. As for me, I value affordability, skin care benefits, and most importantly, ability to keep my makeup looking fresh for hours.
So today, we have a tie!
PIXI BY PETRA MAKEUP FIXING MIST AND NICHIDO MATTE FINISH MAKEUP SETTING SPRAY!
Whether you choose to save or splurge between the two, you'll get your money's worth!

ReplyDeleteHello Ms. Martha! I will definitely try Nichido Setting Spray. I hope it will keep my make-up stay for longer hours since I have oily skin.
ReplyDeleteI love your beauty battles! Makes me easier to determine the best product to try. Haven’t tried anything on the products you’ve shared but I have been using the Mumuso Rose Water spray and a local organic brand named Voila.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I've read this tonight! I just fully consumed my Loreal Infallible spray and I'm about to a buy a new bottle tomorrow. I start to oil up as well after 4 hours although I like that it helps a lot when my foundation is creasing. I just use 2 or 3 sprays and it looks good again. I'll go buy Nichido tomorrow and hopefully it works well on me. :)
ReplyDeleteWow. I'm amazed that nichidi made it to your top setting spray. Definitely trying that one first and hopefully works for me. 😊
