Beauty Trends that we should leave in 2018

As we say goodbye to the freedom to make mistakes and chance at reformation for erring kids starting age 9 because of the new law that has been ratified in the senate, let us also bid goodbye to these beauty trends of 2018...that still makes me wonder why they became trendy in the first place.

1. FOUNDATION BOOSTERS

- Look, I have no issue if most people find that this product actually "boosts" their foundation look or routine (what does boost even mean in this context?), but what I do have an issue with is it's prized ridiculously for a theoretical effect. Hey, if you have cash to spare and find that this type of product actually boosts your foundation gig, happy for you! If I'm given a choice between paying for my electric bill and boosting my foundation, I'd go for the former and just grab a classic serum or  moisturizer. Wait, what?! These boosters are simply moisturizers/serums?!

2. FEATHERY BROWS

- The moment this polarizing brow trend came out, I got the heebie jeebies. Because they remind me of centipedes, that's why. And just when I thought that this is crazy, here comes Mc Donald's brows as seen on MetDaan makeup!

To quote Ariana Grande, THANK U, NEXT!

3. UNINFORMED SHADE SELECTION

- Gone are the days when the standard was your momma telling you that your face should be a shade lighter than your entire body (which is actually influenced by the Filipino's desire to be white). Hello, inclusivity, we've waited long enough for you! In the digital age where everyone can discover in a minute what their true foundation match is, brands should follow the lead and release complexion products that are friendly to a majority, if not all.

4. NON-BIODEGRADABLE GLITTER

- We've sent man to the moon and yet we don't use non-biodegradable glitter...on a wide scale. Glitter will very much be on trend this year and the fishes, sharks, and whales are worried so I strongly recommend that brands should start creating biodegradable glitter. As a consumer, you can impact this change greatly by patronizing only biodegradable glitter for your makeup looks.

5. GLASS SKIN

- This is one of the beauty trends of 2018 that I kinda' enjoyed exploring so I won't say I hate it; I enjoyed it while it lasted, but I think it's time to leave it behind, at least for me.

Glass Skin is simply unattainable for people living in the tropics because of its process and without remedies like powdering the skin, which is an opposite of the Glass Skin ideology. For us living in the tropics, glass skin almost always tragically ends up as either oily skin or sweaty skin so why bother? Just leave it to the Koreans and let's just admire their skin from afar.

There goes my list! What will you add?

  1. I agree with this 100%! Couldn't have said it better! Especially with the glitter and skin boosters! I'm cutting down on using any form of glitter and shimmers now. I'm afraid it's just gonna end up in the ocean and stuff. I don't want animals to consume it. :( Better to be safe. As consumers, I believe our greed for shimmers and glitters drive producers to make more of these. That's why I decided to switch up to facial oils or petroleum or any form of gloss that could double up as my highlight. :)
