THE VERDICT:

Whenever I am in the midst of a semi-severe break out, I turn to Mario Badescu; it has never failed me; I use it intensively for a month and it normally gets rid of acne then I revert to more basic skin care products, but for some reason, this current breakout of mine has been crazy; even if Mario Badescu has eradicated a lot for the last 2 months, for some unknown (or probably hormonal) reason, the zits just keep on coming back. My skin has gotten a bit used to Mario Badescu's formula by now and it hasn't been as effective. So long, Mario, I'll get in touch with you again in my next breakout!

Luckily, CosRX Korea sent me their new AC Collection set. I have been using the entire collection for nearly a month now and here's my result!

AC Collection is the newest anti- acne skin care line by CosRX. This collection features a facial cleanser, two types of toner, a spot- fighting cream, and spot treatment patches. Aside from fighting acne, AC Collection also promises calming benefits to the skin.

CosRX AC Collection features Salicylic Acid, Tea Tree Oil, Madecassic Acid (aka Madeca extract to some), Betaine Salicylate, and Zinc Oxide (Calamine) as the main acne- fighting ingredients; to some extent, Propolis can also have anti- acne properties; Belo's AcnePro anti- Acne skin care line is one of the known commercial skin care brands that utilize this ingredient.

These active ingredients are present throughout the products, but may or may not appear together in a single product; for optimal results, it's still best to use the entire line, but with the way the products are formulated, I think you can use just one or two and include in your current routine, depending on which anti-acne active ingredient suits you best. 

I like how this skin care range utilizes all known anti- acne ingredients and addresses ingredient sensitivity lightly, and gives you freedom to customize a more effective anti- acne skin care routine... for you.

Calming Foaming Cleanser Ingredients

AC Collection Ultimate Spot Cream is a rich, soothing cream that heals zits; it features CentellAC-Rx complex, just like the cleansing foam.

ACTIVE ANTI- ACNE INGREDIENT: Tea Tree Oil, Madecassic Acid, and Zinc Oxide (Calamine).

Top-Bottom: Calming Foaming Cleanser, Ultimate Spot Treatment

AC Collection Calming Foaming Cleanser is a rich, foaming cleanser; it yields a rich, frothy foam that dissolves makeup and impurities effectively, but doesn't leave the skin dry, flaky, and itchy. It yields a very light cooling sensation, but goes away when you rinse the product off the face. It has Lavender oil extract, however, and Lavender is known to trigger some skin sensitivities so steer clear if you are allergic to essential oils like Lavender.

Ultimate Spot Treatment is a pinkish cream that comes in a hip metal tube. The tube, however, once you puncture the tip, the product will just continue coming out due to the pressure inside the tube; just cover it up right away once you get your desired amount; don't worry, the product won't squirt  from the tube when you reopen. This spot treatment is a rich cream that is unscented, has a light moisturizing effect, and totally sting- free.

Ingredients: Calming Liquid Intensive

AC Collection Calming Liquid Intensive is a soothing toner that acts fast and works intensively in treating acne while still remaining calm and gentle to the skin. This is an essence-toner formula because it also contains serum- type ingredients that nourish and rejuvenate the skin such as Propolis and AHA. This feature CentellAC-RX complex.

ACTIVE ANTI-ACNE INGREDIENTS: Betaine Salicylate (BHA), Tea Tree Oil, Zinc PCA, Madecassic Acid.

Ingredients: Calming Liquid Mild

AC Collection Calming Liquid Mild is a milder version of Liquid Intensive; it is ideal for everyday use and can be used even by sensitive skin types.

ACTIVE ANTI-ACNE INGREDIENTS: Tea Tree Oil, Madecassic Acid, Betaine Salicylate

Both toners have a light, citrus fragrance, which I think are naturally- occurring due to the ingredients.

AC Collection Acne Patch is a new and improved look of their best- selling pimple patch; I have reviewed that already and I like it a lot! Here's my REVIEW.

Here's my skin nearly a month after using CosRX AC Collection. I really suck at taking before and after photos; this is the after. Check out the middle portion of my cheek; that has been ravaged with acne and Mario Badescu wasn't able to treat it as effectively after 2 months of intensive use; three weeks after switching to AC Collection, my skin is looking fairly better now and the acne on this part has never recurred after healing; all I have to deal with now are those pesky post- acne marks.

The products I use from AC Collection are the cleansing foam, spot treatment, and calming liquid intensive.

Some things I observed during my usage:

1. The facial foam is LOVE! I use it everyday and I love how it gives a gentle, non- drying clean.

2. The spot treatment works, but only works on ruptured/popped pimples; it doesn't work on cystic acne. 

3. Calming Liquid Intensive is effective, but I don't think it's something that can be used everyday; I tried using it everyday and noticed that I ended up breaking out for a little so I switched to Calming Liquid Mild; that seem to have fixed the problem and I only use the intensive version for at least twice or thrice a week, depending on my need. Also, please be wary of use of Calming Intensive Liquid because it contains Propolis, which can trigger allergies in individuals who are allergic to Bee- derived ingredients.

CosRX AC Collection is effective; I still have a place in my heart for Mario Badescu as it will always be the best anti- acne skin care range for me, but AC Collection is something that I'd definitely use too. What I like most about AC Collection is it fights acne effectively and gently; perfect for those who have sensitive skin and just about anyone who dislikes the stinging, itchy, and peeling sensations that most anti- acne products give. I read in a thread that there are some people with Rosacea who use this range as an everyday cleanser as well, but please see your dermatologist first and ask for advice before using any new skin care product, especially if you have compromised skin.

CosRX AC Collection is perfect for any skin type that's dealing with mild to moderate acne problems; it's ideal for dry-oily combination skin and sensitive skin types too.
