THE VERDICT:

Just recently, Mise En Scene has officially arrived in the Philippines and brought along their best- selling serum and hair care range; boy, was I happy that finally, my favorite Korean shampoo and conditioner brand is finally within reach; I have discovered Mise En Scene through Althea and I got so hooked on the products just after a couple of uses; I mean, if super soft and fragrant hair is your jam, look no further and try this brand!

Of course the best- selling Perfect Serum had to tag along; I've always believed that the best hair oil is Kerastase Elixir Ultime and that remains true until today, but I think I have found the closest dupe to its formula through Mise En Scene Perfect Serum hair oil!

Mise En Scene is Korea's no. 1 hair care brand and Mise En Scene Perfect Serum is the no. 1 hair oil serum in Korea with over a billion units sold; Perfect Serum is one of the variants of their hair oil serum range and boasts of the proprietary 7x Oil Cocktail formula featuring 7 of the most potent, moisturizing, and hydrating oils known to hair care namely Marula, Camellia, Jojoba, Olive, Coconut, Argan, and Apricot.

Whenever I use Mise En Scene Perfect Serum, it's like frizz and dryness are a thing of the past

First, packaging; I like the curvy bottle that's quite ergonomic, but I don't like the cap design so much because it always falls off.

Next, quality. The oil has a semi- rich consistency, but when rubbed in between palms, the formula thins and becomes more manageable, spreadable, and doesn't feel and look sticky at all. It has the brand's bright floral fragrance, which can also be found in the shampoo, conditioner, and hair mask.

What's great about this hair oil is I only need 3 pumps to cover all areas of concern; I've had this oil for 3 months now and I have been using it everyday and I still have about 50% left; so economical! I have dry hair that is very prone to frizz and fraying, but these are controlled the whole day whenever I use the serum; it smooths, softens, and keeps hair looking healthy and very shiny (but not the greasy kind); I have also noticed that it makes my highlights glow nicely and my hair smells great and feels soft the whole day too.

Mise En Scene Perfect Serum promises damage repair; after using it for a while now, can I say that it did repair my existing hair damage? I'd say about 20%; I don't get as much frizz as before; just like the rest of the hair treatments that I have used, I realized that I have to use it continuously in order to keep on experiencing the favorable results, but so far with this product, the result is far more sustained: when other department store hair oils can only keep my hair soft and smooth for a couple of hours, Mise En Scene can keep it that way the whole day. Hair is exposed to different forms of aggressors daily so I don't think there is anything that can completely repair it, unless we quit doing things that damage to it.

In a lot of ways, this is similar to my favorite hair oil of all time, Kerastase Elixir Ultime, except the price.

- both are very concentrated and I'd only need an average of 3 pumps to get the softness and smoothness I need.

- both provide intense nourishment and mild repair.

- both smell freakishly good

- both have a lot of variants under the product range

- both are rich, but feel light and non- greasy

- both make my hair incredibly shiny

Before Mise En Scene, L'Oreal's Mythic Oil was my closest more affordable dupe to Kerastase and it wasn't that affordable and I don't think it is still around; I'm so happy Mise En Scene brought their best- selling serum range to the Philippines and surely, I shall be repurchasing once I run out! Now I know why it's Korea's no.1!
