THE VERDICT:

An Instagram follower commented on my story featuring this toner and she gleefully said: "That Glow OH toner is good!" I mean, for her to go out of her way and drop me a message says a lot about the toner that's why I have decided to swap my favorite Pixi Glow Tonic for it in the meantime.

I've been using it for three weeks now and all I can say is if you have brightening concerns and it feels like your skin isn't absorbing as much skin care, then Ole Henriksen Glow OH Dark Spot toner can help! Review below!

Ole Henriksen Glow OH Dark Spot Toner ingredients

Ole Henriksen Glow OH Dark Spot Toner is an AHA- based toner that utilizes Glycolic Acid for effective exfoliation and Lactic Acid for gentle brightening and anti- aging benefits. Preps skin for the rest of the skin care routine and helps smooth skin texture and brighten dark spots. It comes in 2 sizes: 190ML and 65ML.

Pixi is my holy grail when it comes to Glycolic Acid and AHA toner because this thing has really helped my skin recover from an 8-month long battle with acne. Since then, Pixi Glow Tonic has been part of my routine and I'm never without it. But since I've had a really good experience with my first Ole Henriksen skin care, which is the Banana Bright Vitamin C range, I didn't hesitate to give it a try.

This is a fragrant toner with OH's signature lemon sugar fragrance. I like the sweet, tangy, uplifting fragrance, but some who are sensitive to fragrance may find it too much; the sillage of the fragrance is strong and if you don't like fragrance in your skin care, then this is something that you should consider before giving it a try.

OH mentioned that this gives that "it's working!" tingling sensation, which is what you'll usually experience with a fairly high concentration of Glycolic Acid (I experience this with Drunk Elephant Framboos Serum and Pixi Glow Tonic too). It may be a little uncomfortable, depending on your pain tolerance, but if you're used to it already like me, it's just like having micro stings on your skin that go away after 5 seconds.

After two weeks of usage, I have noticed that my skin seems to be absorbing skin care better because I've been seeing favorable results faster. I used this in conjunction with OH Banana Bright Vitamin C skin care range and I have noticed that my skin has a noticeable brightness and smoothness the following day versus before where it took me a couple of days to see a tinge of brightness on my skin and marks. I really felt that this toner helped accelerate my skin's turnover, which in turn has caused it to be more receptive to skin care, plus it helps prevent acne and helps control breakouts too.

Ole Henriksen Glow OH Dark Spot Toner is your good ol' Glycolic Acid toner and works as it should; what makes it different from Pixi's famous Glow Tonic is it has Lactic Acid, which is good for aging skin because it provides gentle exfoliation and helps early wrinkle formation, thereby making this toner great for those in their 30s and up. I highly recommend this if you're a Glycolic Acid lover like me and you're looking for a more affordable option to Pixi's Glow Tonic, you have dark spots that you want to lighten, and you want a product that will help you skin absorb skin care products better.
