THE VERDICT:

I just threw away a significant number of concealer tubes because they all went stale and bad because of the lockdown. I was heartbroken because it felt like I had thrown money away. :(

On the other hand, it's also the perfect excuse to buy new concealer. It's starting to feel like circa 2010 again when I started building my beauty wardrobe.

The new addition to my concealer collection is the highly raved Dior Forever Skin Correct Concealer. If you have dry skin and you want that extra coverage, then you're reading the right blog post.

Ingredients

Dior Forever Skin Correct Concealer, according to Dior, is a multi- tasking, 24 hr. lasting concealer with a creamy, full coverage. It comes in 28 shades and formula is enriched with Pansy extract for skin care benefits.

I think this is the most expensive concealer I own, but the product tried to compensate by giving me 11ml of product making it one of the most generous concealers I own in terms of volume. The packaging is an acrylic tube; feels quite sturdy and luxe, and this product is quite bulky.

Consistency is semi- creamy and it has a mild floral scent. It's very spreadable and very pleasurable to work with: it blends easily, works well either with a sponge, brush, or your finger, sets quickly, and doesn't leave nasty streaks and patches on the skin. Finish is semi- matte.

Finish is medium to full coverage; the formula is rich in pigments so even if you don't apply a lot, it can still conceal significantly plus I like that it can do that without being heavy, thick, and borderline pasty.

Thing is, between medium and heavy, I would say that this concealer is leaning more on the medium side than the full side because as you can see in the photo above, it still allows the texture of my skin to peep through. IDK, maybe this is the French's idea of a full coverage concealer? Because full coverage to me is Tarte Shape Tape. Regardless, Dior's concealer still has pretty good concealing properties, but heads up to those with severe discolorations on the under eyes-this product alone cannot give you the concealing effect that you will need so it's best to either use it with a color corrector or go for heavier, more full coverage concealers.

The concealer is pretty long- lasting, but I haven't worn it for 24 hours to see if it indeed lives up to its claim. Because who wears concealer for that long, right? No one. So that's why I think it's easy for brands to claim this incredible staying power for their products. But yeah, this concealer has good staying power.

Other good features of its formula are: it doesn't seep into fine lines, doesn't fade, doesn't make my under eyes look and feel dry, and it feels pretty moisturizing.

If you have dry skin and have no luck in finding a semi- heavy concealer that won't exacerbate dryness, then try this because I think that this concealer is ideal for dry skin types, but I find that formula suitable for normal and oily skin types as well.

Is it worth it? Pretty much because of its non-drying formula and size. But if you're only after the coverage, it's okay and I think you can find a more affordable dupe from entry luxury brands such as MAC (specifically the pro longwear concealer), Laura Mercier, and Bobbi Brown.
