One time, when I entered an Etude House store with my BF, the staff greeted us in unison and said "Welcome, princess!" I chuckled for a bit when I saw my BF's face went 'pffft' after being called a princess. So whenever I want to have a good laugh, I enter an Etude House store with my man-pardon me if it sounds rude, but it's a couple thing-we're not alone in this as I believe that each couple has their own crazy trips too!

Oh, by the way, I'd like to talk about Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion BB Cream today. Does it remind you of anything? It does to me and it's very reminiscent of Laneige Snow BB Soothing Cushion, which still remains as the undisputed Korean BB Cream in my books. How is this different from the latter? Let's check!

This product is a sheer base that comes in a refillable compact, although the refill is not available locally. Called by Etude House as the 'almighty cushion', it provides six benefits namely whitening, sun protection, anti- aging, moisturization, sebum control, and color coverage. It comes in three shades: Light Beige, Natural Beige, and Honey Beige.

By the way, this product is the foundation/BB counterpart of the Precious Mineral Any Cushion range, which has color- correcting products-just letting everyone know to avoid confusion. Ideally, you use any of the colored Any Cushion product prior to this, but only if you need to conceal any discoloration. Regarding the packaging, it feels very sturdy, although a little bulky.

Here's the puff and it's exactly the same as the on in Laneige's BB Cream pact. This puff is great, but I just found out that it will crumble after some time-the one on my Laneige BB Cream pact is dead already.

The product is contained within a porous sponge and if you're done with it, you just  have to push the refill pact at the bottom to eject it out of the main compact, just like Laneige-there's little to no difference between this and Laneige's version!

Natural Beige is a light beige shade with a bit of neutral and pink undertones. As you can see, it has a very nice, sheer texture that it melts right onto the skin effortlessly even with just a few swipes, but coverage can be built from light to medium-I prefer not layering it on my skin though because the undertone is a little off and it looks too pale on me. It has a very, very light floral scent and dries into a semi- matte finish.

Etude House says that it's foundation, but I think it's BB Cream given its sheer texture and barely there coverage. That said, you may need to combine it with concealer and powder foundation for an even better coverage, but I like how it makes my skin look bright and dewy.

It delivers a semi- matte finish, although oil control is just okay: my t-zone starts to oil up after two hours and I wish it can control sebum better, but given its overall texture, it can be a brightening base prior to foundation or a go- to face base for everyday use. It seems cheaper than Laneige Snow BB Soothing Cushion, but bear in mind that the latter comes with a free refill (yes, it's free!) so it's like each Laneige refill is P800.00 only whereas with Etude House, it's always P998.00.

The stark similarities between this and Laneige are enough to make me say that this product is a dupe of the latter. Precious Mineral Any Cushion will come out cheaper though if you don't care so much about the free refill and if it's your first time to try this kind of product but without committing to spending over a thousand pesos. As for me, it's an okay product and I don't mind using it if I run out of my favorite from Laneige.

9 Lovely Thoughts

  1. I must say, I'm not so impressed with this. Since I have a somewhat oiley face already, I avoid products that would not hide my oily tzone for a longer time. I'm also using products that would hide my spots already without putting a lot of concealers, etc. It's kinda pricey with regards to what it does. :/

  2. To be honest, I'm not impressed with the oil-control power of the BB Creams by Etude House. I have the Cotton fit one which is a matte finish but it cakes up on my t-zone area after 2-3 hours given that I prime my face with the Nurturing Force. But, I'm a fan of their Wonder Pore Freshner! :) It works! (just sharing. :))) )

  3. I may sound crazy for saying this, but I feel like this is already so hi-tech for a BB. To the point where I'm actually intimidated by it. Parang I have to learn how to use it because it comes in a different medium, the compact with sponge. Haha. I went to EH to swatch, and I was pressing on the cushion going, "Oh, ok. That feels weird." But it's more the texture of the cushion that I found a little strange.

The EH SAs didn't call your boyfriend "prince"? Parang dati, "Welcome Princess, welcome Prince!" My boyfriend hates it. :)) --Matromao

  4. i hope it can give more advantages for its price.. =(

  5. As much as I'm a big fan of Etude House eyebrow and lip products, their face base products do not sit quite right on me. Maybe because it's made with the fair Korean skin in mind, that's why on warm blooded, yellow-toned skin like mine, parang clown lang ako haha! I couldn't find the right shade on me talaga.

I just want to gush as well on how pointed and perfect you did your cat eye, Martha!! It looks like it could stab something with how pointed it is hahaha. Ang ganda! :)

  6. Awtsuu. Sorry, Etude House! Laneige pa rin. <3 My friends and I swear by that BB Cushion.

  7. abegaill: thanks for your thoughts!

    Jessy: Me too!

Shary: Me too. I find their bases too light for my skin tone. :/

Haha, thanks! It's one of my perfect cat eye lines. :)

Matromao: They called him princess haha! Regarding the packaging of this BB Cream, I actually find it better because it's more hygienic. :)

Jona: I've heard lots of good stuff about their wonder pore range also. I'm interested to try the entire line soon. :)

  8. Kinda thinking of buying this. since may sale si etude na buy 2 for the price of one. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  9. Yeah they are on using enlighten cushion
