FAN MAIL FRIDAYS: You Only Need 5 Products For Your Everyday Makeup (Spend Vs. Save)

Hi, loves! I don't know if you've read about this, but there's a Blogger that has been arrested recently due to a libel complaint (please just search this online. Don't want to mention names for legal and personal reasons). When you finally read the story, come back and tell me what you think about the whole situation. What I can only say about this is before publishing controversial things online, ask yourself these things first: 1. Is this true? 2. Is it worth writing about? 3. Will it damage the reputation of the persons/parties involved? 4. Is my article fair to all persons/parties involved? If your answer is yes to all these things, then go push the PUBLISH button. Always be responsible.

Now that's one, juicy Friday for all of us. Our Fan Mail Fridays for today is from Mommy Charm:

Hi Ms. Martha!
Can you teach us a simple look that we can use everyday using maybe five or six products only? When I work, I don't have that much time nor products that I bring with me so a simple makeup that's easy to pull off would really help a lot. Thank you and God bless!
Mommy Charm

Hi Charm!

Thanks for the letter. I was thinking what you meant by simple; is it something that's REALLY simple? Because that's what came to mind when I read your letter so I came up with my signature simple look for everyday. It's simple, but it great. :)

Instead of coming up with a tutorial, I'll just share with you five essential products that I use to create my simple look. It's just a simple look and I believe that you have the capacity to recreate it (but I'll include related tutorials as well. ;) ). I created SPEND VS. SAVE versions of my Everyday look product list.
SAVE

1. Pixy UV Whitening Two Way Cake- P275.00
2. Maybelline Fashion Brow Duo Shaper- P399.00
3. Max Factor Creme Puff Blush- P675.00
4. Maybelline Hypercurl Mascara- P250.00
5. L'Oreal Color Riche Lipstick- P400.00

  1. Wow I really love this post kasi it has save and splurge portion. When my work became 2 hour travel away from home, I don't have that much time to do my face so I usually stick to 5-6 products. Foundation from covergirl, eyebrow liner from EB, Hypercurl Mascara (Ms.Martha, it is now 199.00 nalang), lipstick (can be use as blush also),powder from maybelline which i always bring with me for touch up.

  3. I did exactly what you said. I checked the story online. I heard it on the news yesterday but did not pay much attention to it. What I can say is that everyone should be careful about they are about to post, upload or publish in the internet. I always go by the golden rule: Do not do unto others what you do not want others to do unto you.

Ahh. I have been eyeing for a MAC lipstick for so, soooo long now. I have yet to own one and I want to make my first one memorable! I don't know what it is with MAC lipsticks but they seem to be so special that I have to think twice whenever I am about to buy one! My simple look is also like yours but most products I used are drugstore ones and my lipstick is more on the mauve-y side. Thanks for this post!

    1. Agree on the Golden Rule!

For your first MAC lipstick, if you will buy one in the near future, go for Twig, Angel, or Cosmo since you said you're into mauves. :)

  4. I approve of using few items to enhance our beauty. it is not unreal to say that women do not think of the cost of purchasing beauty products. As it is nice to splurge on products once in a while it is better to look to affordable yet effective brands that we can purchase without hurting the pocket. :-)

  6. Kyaah! You picked my mail, Miss Martha. I am so thrilled upon reading this! Anywa, I will try to "copy" or be inspired with your tips. I must say that you are so good with your make-up that even if you're already using the not-so-expensive products, you still looked stunning. Wish I could do the same. (^-^) That red lipstick is THE BOMB!
Anyway, I've read about that incident too where the blogger was arrested because of a libel complaint. Bashing/ spreading rumor about others to gain readers/ views is something that I cannot grasp. It's just unacceptable for me.

  8. I always love Save + Splurge posts because I'm able to learn more about other products which have great quality yet are cheaper! Note to self: invest time to learn on how to groom eyebrows. I have read from other bloggers as well that it also makes a huge difference in your overall.I P.S. I envy how every shade of red lipstick seems to suit you!

  9. Spend and save looks are pretty similar! For me, I love using BB cream (or BB powders), blush, lip tint and eyebrow pencil then done :D I tend to over powder my face since I walk to school but it looks nice when I arrive school because by then the powder will blend to my skin flawlessly.

    1. Yup, that's the goal: To show that you can come up with a SPLURGE look using SAVE products. :)

  10. I really like the save versus splurge idea kasi at least we are given options. I have this notion kasi before na kapag popular brand, it will surely deliver well so that's why those are the only brands I purchase. But there are more affordable products pala that equals its performance. Right now, I am no longer picky on the brands. What I do when I wanna try a new product and a new brand, I check reviews online first before purchase.
