HIT LIST: 67 Best Makeup Products and Tools of 2019

67 Best Makeup Products and Tools of 2019 morena filipina beauty blog
Hear ye! Hear ye! Here's one of my most awaited beauty posts at the end of each year.

Another year has come and gone, and we have witnessed once again some of the best beauty releases of the last decade. If I were to sum up the makeup industry this year, it's all about the BASE: a lot of attention has been paid to a flawless look, skin- caring bases, long- lasting foundations, and more inclusive shades; this great attention given to a good- looking base is also primarily influenced by the rise of skin care this year.

Without further ado, here are 67 of the best beauty products of 2019 by me! Tried and tested!

67 Best Makeup Products and Tools of 2019
BEST PRIMER OF 2019

Rimmel Long Lasting Finish 8 Hr Primer is a comfortable, moisturizing primer that helps extend the freshness of makeup, has good oil control, and perfect for any skin type, most especially dry skin.

2. SLEEK MAKEUP MATTIFYING PRIMER

- an affordable primer that has mattifying properties, but manages to feel hydrating and light. Keeps makeup vibrant the whole day and oilies at bay for at least 3 hours!

The primer has instantly made my face looking more moisturized and brighter, and quite frankly, the it has minimized the appearance of dark spots. Promising! As for the staying power, it keeps makeup intact for about 4 hours before oil starts to seep; formula is great for dry skin as well.

This primer helps keep makeup looking fresh and the anti-acne ingredients make sure that acne is kept at bay and support my treatment skin care!

My face looks so smooth every time I use this primer and I can't believe it! I love using this when I'm wearing powder because it instantly improves the look and finish. When I wear this with liquid foundation, I literally look like a walking filter (LOL) because it looks so, so smooth!

BEST CONCEALER OF 2019

Texture is a hard cream; it needs to be warmed up by swirling a finger around the pan or rubbing a small part of the surface to soften it up and to spread it easily, which leads me to say that I won't necessarily recommend this product as an under eye concealer because skin pulling and tugging would be an issue; well you can, but just use a concealer brush for softer application. On the face though, it's amazing.

The concealer, aside from its nice texture and full coverage, has a blurring effect that immediately smooths out fine lines. My aging under eyes are enjoying this LOL. Also, it has a smooth, blendable consistency, hydrating properties, and skin care ingredients like Camellia Sinensis that act as an antioxidant; the concealer stays on until end of day with no creasing, no taut feel and dryness. A little goes a long way too!

If you have very heavy facial discolorations, you'll love this product because it's built to cover intensely and to last; there are a lot of shades to choose from as well to match your skin tone and correcting needs. This is my favorite face concealer and corrector to date!

This product works mighty good on the under eyes as well. You know, some matte, full coverage concealers don't work so well on the under eyes because texture is quite a drag, it's drying, and looks cakey; but not this one. I find it pleasant to use on the under eyes: no drag because of the semi- creamy consistency, looks natural despite the full, matte finish, and isn't drying, at least to me-I have moderately dry under eyes by the way; those with very dry under eyes may need to use an eye cream underneath to prevent dryness that may occur.

This one's pretty pigmented and I like that it has blurring effects as well; check out the fine lines on my under eyes; it's been filled in by the concealer and my under eyes look much smoother and younger- looking. It sets efficiently during application and spreads easily with minimal effort so no more tugging and pulling, and feels light on the under eyes despite it being full coverage. Also, it lasts the whole day without the need to retouch, plus resists sweat, oil, and even heat!

The concealer has provided a smooth look to my eyes plus covered my dark circles really well-all of these with just one layer. It doesn't feel heavy and looks and feels just like second skin when it finally sets.

BEST FOUNDATION AND POWDER OF 2019

Revlon Colorstay Foundation is indeed one of the best, affordable, long- lasting face products out there; it has perfected what a matte foundation should be and that is long- lasting, lightweight, easy to use, controls oil, but looks natural--all at a very affordable price point.

My Foundation is such a pleasant surprise; I'm pretty impressed with the concept (you can really feel that there's a difference in the texture and finish of the foundations so the customizable coverage promise is true) and most of all, the fact that a Korean brand has dared to offer deep shades to cater to warmer skin tones.

I'm not really fond of mousse foundation because the ones I've tried in the past are flaky, hard to blend, and cracks during midday; well, not this one! This is a revolutionary mousse foundation formula because it has the great coverage of mousse and the ease of liquid; I use a flat top kabuki brush to spread it out.

In terms of quality, finish, coverage, and lasting power, Life-Proof Foundation is seriously good and I love that it's less than P1,000 only for a product that performs well. I just wish that they will fix the shades soon and be more inclusive when it comes to the selection.

I'm quite impressed with this foundation; it's a huge improvement of Ever Bilena's foundation and I'm glad that there's finally a very affordable, long- lasting foundation for budget beauties with combination or oily skin types!

This foundation is great for those with combination oily/normal, oily, and even oily/dry skin because of its comfortable formula. If you love the coverage of matte foundation, but still want that natural look, you have to go for this.

Flormar Loose Powder is a mattifying, smoothing loose powder; it uses a special technology that gives all these benefits, plus makes the powder pure, silky, and easy to apply on the skin.

Finish is matte and I like the smoothing effect it gives my skin. The powder has good staying power; my t-zone would oil up after 2-3 hours of wear, but coverage seems to stay intact so it's pretty okay; a good primer helps prolong wear time as well.

Vice Cosmetics Duo Finish Powder Foundation is a good product: coverage is good, I love the fact that it has SPF, and I appreciate the team for trying to be inclusive with their 8- shade range. Plus it's P245 only; so affordable!

I actually like the overall look of this powder; it's matte yet fresh and can take you from a casual stroll to a quick lunch meeting. Another great thing to love about this powder is its staying power: it lasts long, about 5- 6 hours before retouching, and coverage stays intact despite having an oily t-zone. It's really good!

BEST EYESHADOW SINGLES/PALETTES OF 2019

I love Pat McGrath's Mothership eyeshadow palette because it's more than just pigmented; this palette has personality and I'm living for the glitter shadows, plus overall quality is great: blendable, long- lasting, and can be used wet or dry without harming its quality!

This palette is very easy to work with, plus I love that it has a lavender shade that complements morena skin tone; actually, the whole palette is great for morena skin tone!

The eyeshadows are superbly buttery; everything from the mattes, reflective eyeshadows, glitters, and metallics. They're so pigmented, easy to blend, and the colors are stunning. The concealer base seemed too light for me, but when I tried it on, it actually complemented the colors and made them appear more vivid.

The eyeshadows are smooth and buttery with little fallout, especially for the metallic ones; they're very easy to blend, transfer easily from brush to skin, and very pigmented. Oddly enough, these feel like ABH's eyeshadows; the quality is a close dupe.

The eyeshadows are creamy, very pigmented, and blend seamlessly and easily; the colors are very friendly to anyone no matter the makeup skill, thus I think Pixi's eyeshadow palettes are great starter palettes for beginners who want to focus working on their skills, one department at a time, specifically the blending and color gradation departments.

Ever Bilena's Uncover eyeshadow palettes are affordable and good, perfect for budget beauties, eyeshadow palette collectors, and budding beauty enthusiasts who want to start working on their eyeshadow skills.

- This eyeshadow stick in Fit is my favorite! Gives me that pretty, fresh monotone look and it's pretty long- lasting too; I like how the muted browned peach shade gives my lids a "blushing" effect.

29. REVLON COLORSTAY CREME EYESHADOW

- Smooth, creaseproof cream eyeshadow that is pigmented, very easy to blend, and lasts long. Works well as a base. Another great addition to the Colorstay range.

BEST BLUSH/HIGHLIGHTER/CONTOUR OF 2019

If you're like me who's not too fond of the Insta-highlighter look, subtle, glow- mimicking highlighters like Sunlit Dream Palette is something that you should definitely check.

If you're looking for an affordable highlighting powder that can go head on with more expensive, megawatt highlighters out there, go for Ever Bilena Glow Out highlighters. This stuff is legit.

Face Trio is a good, affordable everyday sculpting blush for budget beauties. Staying power is good; it lasted pretty much the entire day on my oily skin and under the muggy weather.

These cheek products are pigmented! It only took me one swipe to achieve those neat swatches! Surprisingly, they're not chalky, don't have a cloying perfume scent, and blend easily on the skin.

Take Home The Bronze is a creamy matte blush with medium to heavy pigmentation. Thomas is a medium deep shade with golden undertone; it's the perfect shade for morenas; it doesn't give that tacky, orange coverage! It beautifully mimics my skin's natural shadows.

This is one of my best makeup purchases this year; glad I too the plunge! It's $45 well- spent and I'm happy to have found a new, favorite contouring product. Now I'm browsing Dior's makeup catalog and can't wait to get my hands on a new Dior product! I'm thinking of getting foundation! If you want a natural- looking and naturally- chiseled look, I highly recommend this palette.

- Using this highlighter is quite an experience: first touch and you'll get hooked by the smoothness; next, you'll be impressed by the skin- like, lightweight texture that isn't chalky and for some reason, doesn't look cakey no matter how many times you swirl your finger on the pan; and then your eyes will sparkle and your heart, flutter as you blend the highlighter and watch it seamlessly melt on your skin, making it look as if GLOW is in your DNA; then you will marvel at yourself because you're glowing evenly and beautifully in any angle; finally, you can't help but feel blessed because you have existed with the Mother and experienced her products in this lifetime LOL! But seriously, this highlighting trio is THAT sensual and I really enjoy using it!

The powders have pretty good staying power even on oily skin; they're buildable too. Can't think of anything else to say aside from the fact that these are worth the purchase because it's very affordable and they perform very well.

BEST EYELINER 2019

I find that I can create better flicks with the applicator because it's sturdier than most; finish is semi- matte and has a soft sheen to it. Just like the gel pencil, it's pigmented too. It sets pretty quickly though and consistency is a little thick (but not uncomfortably thick) so apply gradually.

Eyeliner Stamp is such a fun product; I use Black Magic all the time and it makes winged liner such a breeze; it has Careline's signature long- lasting eyeliner formula and this baby stays the whole day as well as the star stamp.

Finish is soft matte and I can line both upper lids, from the top to bottom (tight lining) with ease and no pain. It also sets pretty quickly so I don't get residues. When I use it on my waterline, it lasts for about 3 hours, tops, which is pretty long in my opinion considering that nothing virtually stays longer than an hour on this moist portion of the eyes.

BEST EYEBROW PRODUCT 2019

It's very easy to use, affordable, love the applicator that came with it, and all in all, great quality and product for the price. What makes it famous? Aside from the key factors I mentioned, this is one of the first pomades out there with great quality and price point long before ABH's Dipbrow came out!

42. BENEFIT 3D BROW TONES

- One of my favorite brow boosters from Benefit. It adds light highlights to the brows, giving it a 3D look. It's also a great product to use for instant bushy brows.

Texture is semi- soft: it has the right amount of hardness and softness to it, and I find that it glides easily with no drag; I can even use a light hand on it and it will still impart coverage. No need to warm up the product as well as it instantly works once applied on the skin.

Micro Brow Pencil has pretty good staying power; I used it in one Crossfit workout (which is the ultimate makeup wear test for me) and it stayed. Volumizing Brow Gel doesn't have impressive staying power though.

EB Advance Fine Line Brow is a good product: good quality and at a price that you can't beat. It's a great choice if you are on a budget, but still want to catch up with trendy brow products such as the micro brow pencil.

Brow Whiz is very easy to use; it imparts coverage easily with little to no drag on the brows. If you want hair- like strokes, don't grip the pencil firmly and start application using a light hand and wispy motion.

Dipbrow Gel has a glossy to matte finish; it starts off glossy and as you spread it out, the finish becomes more matte, which I like because the texture automatically adds a bit of control. It sets fairly quickly and since this is very pigmented.

BEST LIP PRODUCTS OF 2019

It's non- sticky, has a smooth, even finish, lightweight, pigmented, and thankfully, has no glitter so I can wear it during daytime and even in the office. It has moderate shine, thus it's something that I think can be worn to a meeting or work in case you don't feel like wearing lipstick. It has a minty feel, but not the type that is irritating or feels too 'spicy' that you want to take it off; the minty feel, aside from giving that fresh vibe, provides a little volume boost to the lips too!

The finish is soft matte with a teeny hint of sheen; the sheen is not discernible from afar and it looks completely matte. Among all of EB Advance's matte bullet lipsticks, this is by far the most matte in terms of finish. Glad to know that the finish of their matte formula is improving bit by bit. Also, no dryness experienced during wear.

I love the quality, finish, color, and technology behind the lip balm, plus the way it looks on me overall. Bottomline, it's just one of those products that you discover, use, and end up loving! If you're planning to splurge on lip balm, get this!

Overall, these are amazing lip glosses; love the non- sticky, tolerable, nourishing formula, and holy cow, the glitter glosses are blindingly legit! I found myself wearing lip gloss more often, but only Lust: Gloss because it's non- sticky and I can't stand very sticky lip gloss. I've been wearing lip gloss often because of this and I think it's a great summer product to try; I'm a non-lipgloss wearer and if I wear one, that means it's fairly good.

I like this product! It's a new take on lipstick, plus I love the lightweight feel and lipstick payoff. Great for those who dislike lipstick, loves lip stain, and want to marry both!

Regarding staying power, hands down, these are AMAZING! Finish is soft matte and it is not drying at all, but stays put the whole day! I wore this the whole day and after a couple of drinks and meals, the fading was very minimal (just on the inner center of my lower lip) that I did not have to retouch the lipstick!

I'm impressed at these new shades by Avon; they got all the nude shades perfectly and best part is there's one for every skin tone. I hope this is a permanent range! My favorite shades are Marvelous Mocha and Divine Twig!

Staying power is great; doesn't fade easily during a meal and can be layered on without having to remove everything because it won't cake and look patchy (although I'd suggest that you remove all before applying a new layer, especially after a meal because who wants to trap oil and food in their lips!? LOL).

I now get why this product is highly- raved by a lot of people: it is because the packaging, presentation, colors, performance, and quality are great, plus the generous pigment concentration provided that to-die-for pigmentation and coverage.; it is overall a beautiful lipstick that lipstick lovers, budget beauties and big spenders alike, will really love. Most importantly, my lips did not turn into a cracked, dry water bed during wear!

BEST MULTIPURPOSE PRODUCTS OF 2019

The product is very easy to spread and a tiny amount goes a long way; the glitters are pretty chunky so make sure to spread the product evenly to drive the glitter into the apt places. The glitters may be huge, but there's something unique and cool about it that I really like. :)

My most favorite product in the collection has got to be the Face Palette's cream blush. First of all, I love the shade-compliments my skin tone very well. Second, it's pigmented; a little goes a long way. Third, it can be applied before or after powder and you won't have any problem with streakiness. Finally, as long as you set it properly, it can last long and give you that drunk blush look for hours.

I love Glam Pocket: it's so cute, the products are so versatile, and it's probably the best cream blush with cream-to-powder format that I have used; it's generally pleasant and easy to use because it has very good texture and quality; the trendy, universal colors are a plus as well. As we say in Filipino, "maganda ang 'pahid'" and it's one of the reasons why I love this product; the texture is just great!

YOU GUYS. Happy Skin's Color Play Multi-Use Mousse is the bomb! It's no secret that I'm into tints, and the drunk blush and monotone looks lately that's why this product is right up my alley. Staying power for the mousse is good: it lasts 5 hours on my skin before it begins to fade; on very oily skin types, this may be less.

61. LILLY LASHES FALSIES

What I love about Lilly Lashes is the signature wispy style of the falsies; I've always loved the wispy effect because it makes the pair look even more natural, plus I'd like to commend the band used in the falsies: it's light, sits comfortably on my lids, and doesn't pierce my skin too much!

62. HUDA BEAUTY OLIVIA 18 SHORTIE FALSE EYELASHES

I think this particular pair is great for Filipina, almond eyes because it's not too thick, opens up the eyes, and makes almond eyes look naturally bigger. They look like falsies on me, but not fake and costume-y unlike other dramatic lashes. My only issue with the product is it's glued tight on the case; I almost ripped out a lash just because it's glued heavily; yikes! Good to know that the stitching is solid. Other than that, I have no problem with Huda's lashes and Shortie is my new favorite; it's the perfect falsies with just the right drama for Filipina eyes!

63. BEAUTY BLENDER SOLID BLENDER CLEANSER

The soap has low- foaming properties and rinses out very easily too. I think this soap will last me for 3 months or more at twice a month usage or exactly three months with everyday usage for makeup sponge cleansing. I highly recommend this product to makeup sponge users! It's the best way to clean any sponge, especially Beauty Blender!

I love using the flocked side because it precisely drives powder exactly where it should go whenever I'm baking makeup. The rubbery side, I rarely use because the powder foundations I have have their own sponges anyway, but I can see how it can come handy especially when traveling.

So far, I like the selection of Kris Aquino's makeup brushes; it has almost everything I need to create my makeup, plus quality is pretty good for the price.

This set costs a hefty premium, but the quality of the bristles are superb; they're perfect for people with sensitive and hypersensitive skin as well because the bristles are mighty soft and not made from animal material. This set made me realize too that not only makeup can have that 'airbrush' property, but also brushes too!

So far, my experience was pleasant with Vivid and Vogue hair curler; it's an affordable dupe for Kiss Instawave. For P700, I get instant, pretty curls under 20 minutes. Now I can sport cooler hair when I go to events or whenever!
